This war… We’re not winning it. If you speak a word of what I’m about to show you, you will be executed for high treason. It’s beautiful. It’s the greatest encryption device in history and the Germans use it for all communications. Everyone thinks Enigma is unbreakable. Let me try and we’ll know for sure. Mr. Turing, do you know how many died because of it? I don’t. Three. While we’ve been having this conversation. Gentlemen… Meet Mr. Turing. We are to work together, then? I’m afraid these men would only slow me down. Popular at school, were you? We’re short on staff. We get more staff, then. You have six minutes to complete the task. Is that even possible? No. Takes me eight. Five minutes and thirty-four seconds. You said to do it in under six. What is it that we’re really doing? We’re going to break an unbreakable Nazi code and win the war. Oh… You know, to pull off this irascible genius routine, one actually has to be a genius. I’m designing a machine that will allow us to break every message every day. Instantly. You’re going to need all the help you can get. And they are not going to help you if they do not like you. Have you decrypted a single German message? You will never understand the importance of what I am creating here! Our patience has expired. No! If you fire Alan… Well, then, you’ll have to fire me. Me, too. And me. It had better bloody work. Alan, you do not have to do this alone. What are you doing? What’s going on? The Navy thinks that one of us is a Soviet spy. You’ve got more secrets than the best of them. What if I don’t fancy her in that way? You can’t tell anyone, Alan. It’s illegal. I’m just a mathematician. Sometimes, it is the people who no one imagines anything of. Who do the things that no one… Can imagine.

  1. I guess being gay is worst than being Hitler. Hundreds of thousands of people live because of him, yet they criminalized him after the fact. How is the government at the time any better than Hitler himself?

  2. Eggs benedict, be Sherlock again and go back to the story of Alan Turing and see the truth for what it was. My instincts tell me that 1) the death of Christopher was murder 2) the corpse of Christopher was not allowed to rest if I am correct, see this part in the eyes of your role from the marvel universe please, if I am correct unspeakable terrors have been commited. 3) something is wrong with the setup at bletchley park as I have read it to be, how many enigma machines are there and now many enigma solvers are there? on the matter of case 1) my prime suspect is Christophers father, a classical case of a father unable to accept his own produce for it is, not for what it could be.

  3. Alan turing never broke enigma code. Polish mathematics did it in 1932. This movie like whole story is a lie.

  4. This movie was so amazing. I never knew Alan Turing‘ story until now. What an amazing but sad story. This movie is raw and makes you really feel for Alan Turing. I’ve watched it twice and both times I couldn’t stop crying. I’m in 9th grade and we never have learned about Alan Turing. He is an important man who NEEDS to have his story recognized, appreciated, and respected by all. He was a truly amazing man. Now that I know his story, it touches me so much and inspires me. And Alan Turing was no criminal. He shortened the war by 2 years saving over 14,000,000 lives. This man deserved so much more. He deserved happiness, to be himself without medication or discrimination, to live a long and wonderful life with Christopher the machine, and to die peacefully in his bed after a long life with Joan Clarke his best friend, and Christopher the machine smarter than ever. He deserved love and to live at least 100 years not 41. And well done to Benedict Cumberbatch in this film. His acting was extraordinary and made the movie great. Nobody but Cumberbatch could have played Alan Turing so well. Well done Benedict Cumberbatch and thank you very very much Alan Turing.

  5. "Sometimes
It is the people who no one imagines anything of
Do the things, that no one can imagine."
    This movie is genius

  6. This was my first movie with Benedict Cumberbatch in it I think. I loved his acting and I love the movie. The movie to me was perfect! It should had won for Best Pictures at the Oscars in February 2015. This movie now is easily in my top ten movies of all-time. I really hope with time it gets more recognition. I think Benedict should have won for Best Actor at the Oscars.

  7. I know I'm 5 years late but I just watched this movie….I don't think I've ever been invested in a movie more than this one. The ending was simultaneously exhilarating and heartbreaking. The ending made me cry my eyes out. Someone who reshaped our entire modern era had such a tragic end. Truly a remarkable story and this movie did it justice.

  8. The man who has given so much to this humankind and instead what humankind has given him is a sad end to his life…he deserved so much better in his life… Feeling very sad for him…

  9. Hence his name Alan Turing and his title of being the father of modern computing forever sticks in my mind and I shall not forget. While his story sticks to my soul in which I look up to him as a hero.

  10. Phenomenal movie right here this man will always be remembered in history and this movie it's a shame what happened to him but other than that he is an amazing guy and he deserved so much more
